There are also areas that are not connected to the municipal sewer utilities hence they go for septic tanks which are also sewer utilities. There are various material used in making the septic tanks which include concrete, plastic or fiberglass to collect wastewater. Septic tanks are mainly used in residential areas since the wastewater generated is not a lot. Also, septic tanks can be able to treat the wastewater by the use of microorganism present inside. Observing some key measures ensure that a septic tank functions properly. These measure ensure that microorganism are no damaged and also the septic tanks such as preventing release of excessive oils and harmful chemicals. In all areas, septic tank are required to be placed underground in such a way that they do not leak or release odors. In many areas, the law requires that the septic tanks be place at least 5 feet from the house.
